The Rajiv Gandhi Zoological Park, commonly known as the Rajiv Gandhi Zoo, is located in Katraj near the city of Pune in India. It is managed by the Pune Municipal Corporation under direction of controversial director Neelimkumar Khaire.
It is spread over 165 acres (0.67 km2) ,which is divided into 3 parts- animal orphanage, snake park and zoo and also has a lake-Katraj lake spread over in 42 acres. It has been open to the public since 1999, earning over 1.3 million visitors during 2007-2008. Earlier, the animals were located at Peshwe Park inside Pune city, while the Katraj facility was primarily a snake park. Slowly the snake park became a rescue center for wild animals.


Saras Baug

Shaniwar Wada

Sinhagad
Sinhagad or Sinhgad(The Lion's Fort), is a fortress located roughly 30 kilometres southwest of the city of Pune, India. It is situated on a hill rising 800 metres above the surrounding countryside. Previously called Kondana, the fort has been the site of many important battles, most notably the battle of Sinhagad in 1670. It was also strategically located at the center of a string of other forts such as Rajgad, Purandar and Torna.
Perched on an isolated cliff of the Bhuleswar range of the Sahyadri Mountains, its height above sea-level is 1350 metres. Given natural protection by its very steep slopes, the walls and bastions were constructed at only key places; it has two gates - the Kalyan Darwaza in the south-east and the Pune Darwaza in the north-east.


Snake Park
Neelam Kumar Khaire established the Snake Park of Pune in the year 1986, with the help of Pune Municipal Corporation. In 1999, the park was included in the Rajeev Gandhi Udyan. Located on the Pune-Satara Highway, Snake Park is approximately 8 km away from the Pune city. Initially the park was set up as a home for snakes, reptiles, birds and turtles.
